I am Privileged to still be seeing patients in our primary care practice within the Division of Internal Medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College (formerly Jefferson Medical College). Parenthetically, I am also the oldest physician in the group. Improving medication use and management is a complex process. There are a variety of external factors that can influence a pharmacist/patient exchange of information (counseling session), including how the patient interprets the information, or even the attentiveness of the patient during the counseling session. These factors will impact each patient differently.
Throughout history, people have looked upon others to be “good”—good neighbors, good coworkers, good teachers, good friends, and, in general, good people. To link the term “good” to pharmacy, we must be aware that past and present remedies (medications) can do good or cause harm.
